Yes, I know. 1863 has rules. How sad. But don't worry. We don't have many.
Even if you're a lazy person and just want to join the site, make a charrie, and start RPing, you pretty much can't without reading the rules. They are very, very important, and if you don't follow them, we'll eat you. Seriously.
In-Character Rules!
In-character, IC, however you'd like to say it. Basically it means when you're RPing. I shall make this a bulleted list so it's easy for you young newbs to follow.
Out-Of-Character Rules!
When Out-of-character, or OOC, that just means you aren't RPing.
Alllrriiiggghhhtttyyyy nnnooowwwsss, We have a few rules to follow when OOC.
Those are the general guidelines for 1863! Follow them and you won't become a staff snack.

- Now. When you're IC, please, use proper grammar. (unless your charrie is speaking, this is the 1800s, so your character is allowed to be all southern-y like.)
- You are allowed to curse, but please, not very much.
- Relationships. That's where things always throwdown. If your characters are... "reproducing"... be... not perverted or whatever. This site can attract younger users. Do it over PM or fade to black or something.
- If you no longer desire a character you have created, you may put them up for Adoption or kill them off.
- Each RP must be at least fifty words long.
- When you want to create a character, go to the Creation Board. Follow the bio layed down for you. If the bio is unacceptable, a staff member will tell you what you need to change. If you have nothing to change, a staff member will say it is "accepted" and move the bio to the Accepted Board.
- This site is for all levels of RPers.
- The character limit is 5. I may bump it up eventually.
Out-Of-Character Rules!
When Out-of-character, or OOC, that just means you aren't RPing.
Alllrriiiggghhhtttyyyy nnnooowwwsss, We have a few rules to follow when OOC.
- Firstly, please don't say "God." Say "OMAHSOCKS" or something. Or, "Oh, shootiecats!"
- Next, try not to swear. You can, but it's not really wanted. This site needs to look appealing to all ages of all Role-Playing levels, and that doesn't exactly include swearing, now does it?
- Now, please, no saying mean things about other members on 1863. We have to respect each other. If you have a problem with someone, please contact a staff member.
- Report all offensive PMs or messages.
- Try not to use very much chatspeak. Some people may find it annoying or hard to understand. That's what c-boxes are for
- RESPECT THE STAFF.
Those are the general guidelines for 1863! Follow them and you won't become a staff snack.
